The Faculty of Medicine, which consists of 13 departments and two research centres, is responsible for education in health care fields at Umeå University and has an extensive research and graduate education in more than 80 subjects. The Faculty has approximately 5,700 students at basic and advanced undergraduate levels and about 650 students research education level. The faculty includes approximately 500 teachers/researchers and an equal number of personnel with technical and administrative tasks. The Faculty of Medicine aims to recruit a Junior Researcher/Assistant Professor in combination with clinical duties as occupational therapist, physiotherapist or nurse. The subject of the position, as well as the departmental association, will be decided after agreement between the applicant and the faculty. The position can be placed at a preclinical department. We also try to accommodate requests for place of work for the clinical duties. The target group for this position consists of registered occupational therapists, physiotherapists or nurses. The Junior Researcher /Assistant Professor position ("biträdande universitetslektor") is a 4-year tenure track position. The position as Junior Researcher/Assistant Professor at the university can be combined with clinical duties of up to 13 hours a week as an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or nurse. For the remainder of the working hours, the Junior Researcher/Assistant Professor will primarily conduct research (at least 80 percent of the time), but the possibility of teaching within the employment should be provided so that the criteria for promotion to a tenure position as a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor ("universitetslektor") can be fulfilled within the 4 years. It is presupposed that the applicant will be performing successful, competitive, independent research within his/her academic field if granted the position as Junior Researcher/Assistant Professor. The recruited researcher will receive a startup grant of 500 000 SEK. Provided a motivated budget is included in the application, there is also a possibility to receive a further grant of up to 500 000 SEK per year for four years. Qualifications and assessment of skills To qualify for the position as Junior Researcher/Assistant Professor, the candidate must have a PhD degree (or equivalent scientific competence). The applicant also needs to be certified to perform clinical duties as occupational therapist, physiotherapist or nurse within Sweden. The PhD degree should have been obtained within the last seven years. A prolonged time period from obtaining a Ph.D. can be accepted for certain reasons (illness, parental leave, commission of trust or similar conditions). The assessment criteria used is the degree of expertise that is required to qualify for the position. The applicants will be evaluated using a weighted model of all the assessment criteria used. The academic scientific skills are the most important (3), the teaching qualifications and the clinical skills are weighted equally (1). The administrative skills and the ability to develop and supervise activities and personnel, ability to interact with the community are also considered. The evaluation of the scientific skills will pay particular attention to the level of independently performed research. The applicants should have experience of documented and successful research.
